Lincoln Younes has spoken out about his lead part in the 2017 award-winning film The Last King of the Cross, which is based on the best-selling novel by John Ibrahim.

The ten-part drama, which is currently available for streaming on Paramount+, stars Younes, 30, as the well-known Sydney billionaire.

In an unexpected admission, the hottie claimed that four years before to the show’s announcement, he had already begun to consider portraying Ibrahim after finishing the book about the colorful Sydney character.

In a Friday interview on The Project, the former star of Home and Away provided an inside look at the $40 million epic drama.

The fan favorite, meantime, was further inspired to pursue the part when a buddy remarked that the young star reminded him of Ibrahim.

In a surprising revelation, Younes said he started thinking about playing Ibrahim (pictured) after finishing the colourful Sydney character’s book four years ago – long before show was announced

He said, “There was a photo that one of my buddies shot while we were on Zoom.”

A very close friend emailed it to me and suggested that I consider portraying Ibrahim if they ever produce a miniseries because, for some reason, I resembled him.

Ibrahim, who was raised in Sydney but was born in Tripoli, Lebanon, immigrated to Australia in the early 1970s.

Younes said that “around ten years ago” he was expelled from one of Ibrahim’s clubs.

Then he explained that he sneaked back into the location after “swapping” shirts with a pal.

Ibrahim, who was “extremely fussy” about the actor portraying him, was reportedly impressed by Youne’s acting skills as well as his comparably dark complexion and light eyes.

After a lengthy, nearly two-year-long search, Younes was chosen for the position.

On the episode, British actor Tim Roth plays fictitious crime leader Ezra Shipman, who received an Oscar nod in 1995 for the movie Rob Roy.

Ian McShane, the star of the Deadwood series, was originally chosen for the part but had to leave the production because of health issues.

Moreover, Tess Haubrich (Alien: Covenant), Damian Walshe-Howling (Underbelly), and Matt Nable are cast members (Arrow).

The complex production entailed creating a full-scale replica of Sydney’s Kings Cross “night club” strip.

The criminal drama was directed by the distinguished writer-director Kieran Darcy-Smith.

During his interview on The Project Younes admitted he was once kicked out of one of Ibrahim’s clubs, ‘about ten years ago’
