Following two years, the Coronation Street star James Burrows decided to leave the show.
The star is set to leave the show next month, as Dr Ali Neeson.
Initially, a source revealed the news to the Sun, saying "Ali's been one of the most popular characters on the cobbles but the time has come for him to leave.
He is at odds with killer Gary Windass over wife Maria Connor and the pair will likely be involved in a vicious cobbles confrontation.

The source says "Ali in Weatherfield won't see the last people," so it seems the possibility is there for the star, or at least the role, to come back.
Ali is actually mixed up with his ex-girlfriend Maria and her murderer boyfriend, Gary Windass, in a love triangle. Despite Gary becoming one of the best recent soap protagonists, many believed he'd murder Ali.
James has reportedly shot his exit scenes already, and they are expected to air next month.
