The long-running Neighbours character Paul Robinson will make an appearance in the closing scene of the soap opera’s final episode, which is scheduled to air in August, according to Stefan Dennis.
The Australian actor is well-known to the show’s viewers because he has intermittently portrayed the evil businessman since the first episode aired in March 1985.
The character has been a part of several memorable storylines over the years, frequently getting into mischief while pursuing his own self-serving interests, but it’s likely that we will see a softer side of Paul in the final episode.
He previously remarked to Daily Mail Australia, “I was really fortunate to perform alongside another two actors for the closing sequence.
According to the source, Jackie Woodburne, well known for playing schoolteacher Susan Kennedy, will also appear in the program’s final sequence and will reflect with Paul on their common Ramsay Street experiences.
The closing scene is referred to as “heartfelt,” which raises the question of whether Paul might express sorrow or remorse for his past transgressions given that this is his final opportunity to do so.
After Channel 5 decided to remove Neighbours from its schedule, the show’s demise was announced in March of this year.
It was a crushing setback for the soap show, which has long enjoyed much more popularity in the UK than in its native Australia.
Longtime viewers will find it moving that some actors from the show’s past have chosen to return in their original roles for the big finale, including Guy Pearce, Jason Donovan, and Kylie Minogue.
The final episode of Neighbours will air on Channel 5 on Monday, August 1.
