In Neighbours, Terese Willis’ (Rebekah Elmaloglou) world came crashing down when David Tanaka (Takaya Honda) uncovered Paul Robinson’s (Stefan Dennis) health claims.
Fans will recall Paul’s displeasure when Karl Kennedy (Alan Fletcher) informed him that he was on the mend last week.
The soap icon was desperate to keep Terese by his side long enough for him to reclaim her affection and trust, so he lied and pretended to be ill.
As if that wasn’t bad enough, he then got a shady doctor to make up a fake diagnosis for him!
Terese fell in love with Paul all over again while caring for him, thanks to Paul’s plan. The couple was so happy that they decided to repeat their wedding vows.
David, on the other hand, suspected something was up because Paul’s so-called specialist had a history of wrongdoing and had even been summoned before the medical board on one occasion.
David initially assumed his father had lost faith in him in the aftermath of the Flamingo bar tragedy, but he soon realized there was more to this than meets the eye, and he approached Paul, demanding to know whether he was inventing his diagnosis in order to reclaim Terese.
Paul pretended to be surprised at first but soon confessed, pleading with David to keep silent.
It appeared that he might do so at first, but after focusing his attention on Abigail, David was reminded of what happened the last time Paul requested him to maintain a secret.
As a result, he did the proper thing and stormed over to Lassiters.
Meanwhile, Paul was pleased to discover Terese trying on her wedding gown, and the two shared a beautiful dance together.
But, as David entered the penthouse and confessed to Terese that Paul had been lying to him, they had no idea what was about to happen.
Terese, understandably, was taken aback. Is Paul’s last chance with the love of his life squandered?
The promo for the next episode seems to indicate as much, but we’ll have to wait and see whether there’s anything to come out of this!
Neighbours airs on Channel 5 at 1:45 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Friday, February 11th.
