Home and Away star Emily Symons made her first appearance as Marilyn Chambers back in 1989 and recently opened up about her career and family in a candid interview

Over thirty years after making her debut on the soap opera, Emily Symons, star of Home and Away, revealed something personal about it.

In 1989, the 54-year-old actress became a member of the cast and has continued to play Marilyn Chambers on and off ever since.

Given that the soap opera star’s mother disclosed that she expressed her desire to perform at the age of four, it was the ideal role for her.

After spending three years as Marilyn for the first time, Emily left to travel in the UK in 1992, but she didn’t spend much time there before going back to Summer Bay.

She told 7News, “I was in my 20s, so I was traveling throughout Europe, skiing, and doing all the things that young people should be doing.”

“After that, I moved back to Perth for a short while before being invited back by Home and Away.

The two occasions I’ve left the show to go on some crazy trip, they’ve asked me to return, which is nice.

“I have a lot of luck,”

Musical theater was Emily’s first love, and she admitted that she “drags” her son Henry to every show she can.

Henry was born to the former Emmerdale star at the age of 46, after multiple failed IVF treatments.

Emily talked candidly to TV Week about her battle to become pregnant, saying, “I really believed it couldn’t happen and I was too old. I thought I had tried every avenue that was available to us.”

“My recommendation is to persevere even if you’re feeling a little overwhelmed by the entire process.”

Emily came back to the Bay five months after Henry was born, and she easily re-established Marilyn’s role.

Feeling moved by the renowned part she has played for 34 years, Emily stated, “It has been a lot of my life, so after my first stint as Marilyn I came back and played her from 1995 to 1999, and then I came back in 2009.”

“This character has been a blessing in my life, and this job has been incredibly kind to me.”

“I’m very proud to be a member of the Home and Away family,” the stunning blonde continued.
