Luke Van Os, who plays Xander Delaney on Home and Away, said that his movie star cousin helped him get the part. He joined the Australian soap opera’s cast in early 2022.

Early in 2022, Luke Van Os made his Home and Away debut as Xander Delany. He has since admitted that getting the part required some help.

The 25-year-old actor is a cousin of Luke, Chris, and Liam Hemsworth, three stars in Hollywood.

Chris, a 39-year-old Thor actor who played Kim Hyde on the Channel 5 soap for three years between 2004 and 2007, launched his acting career there.

Ex-husband of Miley Cyrus, Liam first gained international fame in The Hunger Games after playing the semi-regular character Josh Taylor in Neighbours and making guest appearances in Home and Away.

Luke, their older brother, also appeared as Nathan Tyson on Ramsay Street from 2000 to 2002.

The Xander actor admitted to Metro.co.uk that he was interested in acting after seeing his cousins perform on television.

He told the outlet, “I always enjoyed cinema growing up.” “the concept of immersing oneself in what one is witnessing. I like telling stories, reading books, and watching movies.”

I believe it was really my relatives who made me realise that it was a possibility and that this might be a career, he continued.

Through his father, Luke is related to the Hemsworth brothers, and he said he frequently “checks in” with them. He said that they have been a “big support” for him ever since getting the job.

Chris, who thanks to his portrayal of Thor in the Marvel movies is currently one of the highest paid actors in the world, described to Sunrise how he assisted Luke with his audition.

He stated: “He had an audition, so I said, ‘Oh let’s chat,’ and we immediately went on Zoom and conducted a number of sessions there.

Luke previously discussed his audition procedure and the assistance his cousin provided to The Daily Telegraph.

“I actually zoomed with Chris the night before and we ran it (the scene), and kind of just got into a good headspace,” he added. “When I was called for a callback for the chemistry test.”

“His advise was to be nice, put in the effort and the work doesn’t end now, if anything this is when you need to work hard,” the soap star continued.
