But they’re not a couple.
Actors Matt Evans and Jacqui Purvis of Home and Away have spoken candidly about what it’s like for them to live together in reality.
Theo Poulos and Felicity Newman, the actors who play them, are not a relationship but rather are living together as friends, like many people do these days. They live together in a house in Sydney that is close to the beach, unlike other people.
Purvis recalled that when she first began working on the soap opera, she was living out of her car and couch surfing. She met Evans on his first day, which also happened to be the day of a Christmas party where they first discussed moving in together.
A few weeks later, they made it official over breakfast.
Evans told Australia’s TV Week magazine about their two years of cohabitation: “We’ve never really discussed our living situation or house rules.
We don’t even have to mention cleaning up after ourselves. In the event of an issue, we either address it openly or choose to act as if it never occurred.
Purvis joked that Evans continually dying her plants even though she largely agreed with her housemate.
We recognize that there may be occasions when conversation simply isn’t necessary when we get home, Purvis continued.
“But we still vent and debrief, and having someone who ‘gets’ it and understands the emotions involved is really good. Naturally, we occasionally run through our lines [together].”
Evans achieved fame on The Voice Australia before joining the serial opera. Later this month, he will release his debut track. He attributes Purvis with getting him back into music after a hiatus.
