Why does Roo vanish every now and then?

Georgie Parker, an actor from Home and Away, has given an explanation for her frequent brief vacations from the Australian soap opera.

Since 2010, Parker has portrayed Roo Stewart in the serial opera; however, she occasionally takes a break to act in plays and pantomimes.

In an interview with TV Week in Australia, Parker discussed how much she values the freedom to pursue other interests in between Roo’s main plots.

She remarked, “I don’t envy the writers having to continually writing me out of the show so I can come and go, to do the plays and other tiny engagements here and there.

“I believe it’s critical that, at this point in my career, I get to investigate all of my choices for collaborating with individuals who I’ve known for 40 years. I’m really appreciative that I have the flexibility to do both.”

When Parker thinks back on Roo’s plots from the previous year, she is happy with what she got.

“I’m really pleased with what the writers have managed to give Roo,” she remarked. She’s had a full life, and this year has allowed me to engage with a variety of individuals, which I’ve really liked.”

Ray Meagher, who plays Roo’s father Alf in the soap, also used to do pantomimes in the United Kingdom. He stopped doing it a few years ago, and he seems to be fine with that decision.

“It’s been wonderful to be back having hot Australian Christmases, rather than freezing English ones,” he said.
