This week on Home and Away in Australia, Gabe is rocked by some devastating health news – how will he tell Mackenzie he’s got cancer?

It would be an understatement to say Mackenzie (Emily Weir) hasn’t had the best of luck with men in her years in Summer Bay.

She and Ari Parata (Rob Kipa-Williams) were happy together for quite a while.

It took her a while to be able to put Tane (Ethan Browne) out of her mind and concentrate on their actual relationship because she spent the majority of their time together longing over him. For everything that did her good.

Ari’s former fiancée Mia (Anna Samson) and her daughter Chloe (Sam Barrett) arrived in town not long after she and Ari had fully established their relationship.

Soon after, Ari had reconciled with his ex, and Mackenzie was forced to watch as the group played happy families before Ari proposed to Mia.

Tragically, shortly after being sentenced to prison for assuming responsibility for the death of Chloe’s father Matthew (James Sweeny), who was actually murdered by Chloe herself, Ari passed away from cancer in the beginning of last year.

Ari and Mia had just enough time to exchange vows in a moving ceremony at Northern Districts before Ari passed away from his disease.

Even though Mackenzie and Ari were no longer dating, the news of his passing broke her heart.

Logan came next (Harley Bonner). There, things were going well, but when Mackenzie ran up a debt, she didn’t tell her boyfriend and almost had a sexual encounter with PK (Ryan Johnson) to pay it off.

When Mackenzie’s ex-fiance Gabe (Akos Armont) first appeared on Australian television screens a little over a month ago, we recently learned that the two had been married before Mackenzie moved to Summer Bay.

We discovered that the couple’s wedding day was just a few months away when Mackenzie and Dean’s (Patrick O’Connor) nasty businessman father Rick Booth offered Gabe $50,000 if he would leave Mackenzie behind.

Surprisingly, Gabe, whose company was having trouble, accepted Rick’s offer and left town without even leaving a note.

He has returned and is attempting to make amends with Mackenzie now, years later.

We’re about to find out that Gabe is keeping yet another secret while the couple is getting back into their relationship.

He had previously undergone non-Hodgkin lymphoma treatment, but he thought he was in remission and had made the decision to withhold this information from his ex-fiancée.

He bumps his head while surfing this week, so he makes the wise choice to stop by Northern Districts Hospital and get evaluated for a concussion. He is relieved to hear from Bree (Juliet Godwin) that there are no signs of a concussion, but the scans have revealed something far worse: his cancer has returned!

“Bree is extremely sad for Gabe because, as a doctor, she’s fully aware of the challenges a battle with cancer holds,” Juliet explained to TV Week“She wants Gabe to reach out to his loved ones so he can get the support he needs.”

Having only just walked back into Mac’s life after years away, will Gabe find the words to tell Mackenzie the truth?
