a protective Theo is charged by Kirby with reading her messages. Kirby is convinced to be open with Theo about Bob by Theo, who is determined to regain their confidence. Theo feels betrayed by Kirby’s covert efforts to reunite with her ex while a stubborn Kirby won’t admit any wrongdoing.
Kirby tells Theo that she needs Bob to give her closure after realising that her relationship is at jeopardy. Theo shows that he is a caring partner by giving her the space she requires. After learning this, a happy Kirby decides she doesn’t require anything from Bob and calls off their meeting.
Felicity, who is determined to play matchmaker, pushes Cash and Eden’s discomfort too far. Cash unexpectedly knocks on Eden’s door to introduce himself and explains that they only collaborate when one of their lives is in danger.
Staying away from Eden is necessary for Cash if he wants to get his life back on track. Eden is crushed and assumes that this means they will once again be friends. Cash states firmly that even friendship is out of the question for them right now. Having to be stoic, Eden concurs.
Alf lashes out at Cash in another scene after learning about Marilyn’s self-imposed seclusion and his devastation. Roo begs Cash to give them any information he can in a courteous manner. Roo intends to intercept Marilyn and finally bring her home after gathering information. Nikau offers to accompany Roo because he feels just as responsible for the Heather mishap.
While helping at a teenage shelter in the city, Marilyn is carrying out an act of atonement. The irate teenagers resist her considerate attempts to engage them. Surprised to see a sheepish Marilyn here, Roo and Nikau are. Roo and Nikau decide to join the volunteer force because they don’t want to be sent back to Summer Bay without anything.
Nikau is quick to chase after the young person who steals Marilyn’s purse. A heartbroken Roo realises Marilyn is aiding helpless youth in order to allay her guilt regarding Heather.
