The paramedic finds himself in serious danger.

The 8,000th episode of Home and Away will include a devastating loss for Xander Delaney at work.

When an accident occurs in a secluded bushland region, paramedic Xander (Luke Van Os) and his colleague Jamie are rushed to the scene. But when they get there, the house seems to be deserted.

Soon after, a man approaches them and claims to have called for assistance, but soon after, three men attack them from behind with bats.

After leaving the two paramedics badly battered and hurt, Xander calls his sister Rose (Kirsty Marillier), a police officer, for assistance.

Dr. Bree Cameron (Juliet Godwin) examines Xander in the hospital to determine the extent of his injuries, but when he asks Rose about Jamie, she has some bad news to share.

Xander is distraught when Rose informs her brother that his companion passed away at the scene. Van Os, in an interview with TV Week, stated: “It burns terribly as Xander wonders why he survived but not Jamie. Xander is troubled by this as he battles survivor guilt.

Rose makes a commitment to her brother that she will work for justice in the killing of his partner and take whatever steps are necessary to bring the perpetrators to justice.

However, Xander isn’t paying attention as he wallows in sorrow following a difficult few months in which he had trouble managing the pressure of the work.

Van Os continued, “Xander enjoys helping people, and being a paramedic allows you to be everyone’s hero, but it obviously has its drawbacks.

He clearly enjoys his work, but he finds it increasingly difficult.

The episode will run this week in Australia and in May on UK television as part of the soap opera’s mega-episode celebration fortnight.
