Fans of Emmerdale have long suspected that Caleb Milligan (William Ash) is hiding something sinister, and it appears that their suspicions have been validated as the newcomer has been up to no good with Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley).

Last year, Caleb showed up in the titular village, claiming to be Cain and Chas’ (Lucy Pargeter) long-lost sibling, whom Cain had rejected decades earlier and told to stay away.

Despite Cain’s demands, Caleb was eager to meet his family and wasted no time in establishing his worth by helping to free Cain from prison and hiring top-notch attorneys to represent Kyle Winchester (Huey Quinn).

For want of a better phrase, the visitor appeared to be the ideal long-lost sibling, and as a result, the entire Dingle clan embraced him with wide arms, with the exception of Cain, who had doubts about his brother’s decision to appear after all this time.

Cain: Was I being unjust?

At first, it appeared that way, especially considering that he was the one who denied Caleb the chance to live with his mother Faith (Sally Dexter).

However, a shocking new development has hinted that Cain was wise to keep Caleb at a distance. In fact, the serial drama’s episode from Thursday (February 2) revealed that the slick and sophisticated businessman is actually out to get his big brother.

Cain let his guard down on the particular outing because he was resolved to avoid letting the past control the present and to correct his past mistakes.

The advice Charity (Emma Atkins), who was deeply affected by the news of rapist Mark Bails’ death in prison, gave to the mechanic ultimately caused him to rethink his mind.

The two brothers played a game of darts and shared a pint in the Woolpack, and Caleb was surprised by Cain’s wish to put the past behind them. And Cain even gave Caleb the go-ahead to spend time with Kyle.

A new sibling relationship emerging? It first appeared to be the case, however the episode’s climactic events showed that Caleb has a strategy to get rid of Cain. In addition, he’s working with an unknown third party because he called them after the day’s unexpected happenings.

We’re finally moving forward, he said to the caller who was not identified. We keep reeling him in until we achieve our objectives.

Just what is Caleb doing, we wonder? What do he and his accomplice desire? Could the newcomer be an undercover police officer hoping to win Cain’s trust before shredding him to pieces?

Or is there another factor at work here? Is he even the sibling of Cain and Chas? You’ll just have to keep watching to find out; only time will tell!
