Stuart Highway (Ricky Champ) was on the cloud nine in EastEnders when the love of his life Rainie Branning (Tanya Franks) agreed to be his wife, but Callum ‘Halfway’ Highway (Tony Clay) threw something of a spanner in the works when he told them that Rainie was still married to Max (Jake Wood), and Stuart took matters into his own hands in the next episode resulting in a fiery confrontation. Earlier this evening, viewers saw Stuart go out of his way to demonstrate his love for Rainie. Therefore he orchestrated the most elaborate — and frankly the greatest — proposal ever seen, as he got down on one knee in the funeral parlor, dressed as none other than Dracula himself.
‘How romantic is that? ‘You’re probably thinking about that. Well, Rainie wasn’t, but the later heart-to-heart revealed just how much Stuart thought of her, and she agreed to be his wife in emotional scenes. Callum was over the moon for his sibling, but he seemingly killed the festivities when he reminded Rainie that she was still married to Max.
The solution to such a predicament is clearly for Rainie to go to both of Den Watts (Leslie Grantham)—or Linda Carter (Kellie Bright)—and get divorce proceedings underway, but it seems that things are not going to be as easy as that.
Indeed, in the next season, Max appears to find out about Rainie’s engagement, but he fails to divorce her — something that Stuart doesn’t like, and he threatens him. As a result, Max is forced to reveal the real reason behind his actions. What does Max reveal? Is Stuart going to be understanding? Or is he simply going to demand that Max — regardless of his reasons — signs on the dotted line?
