Gray Atkins (Toby-Alexander Smith) was hellbent in saving Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty) from his life in EastEnders prison, and— after wracking his brains— he stumbled upon a piece of evidence that might be crucial to get the young woman off the hook as he discovered that the evil Leo King (Tom Wells) had been hiding in her attic before his death. With Gray coming under fire to hire Leo, he’s determined to get Whitney off the hook to save his reputation. During the episode tonight, he told Chantelle’s wife (Jessica Plummer) that he’d rescue Whitney, so he’d set out to do just that.
The re-examination of the evidence gave him little joy, so he asked Sonia (Natalie Cassidy) to explain all that happened on the day of the boat party— aka the day of Leo’s death— once more. After doing so, the lawyer headed up to Whitney’s bedroom, where he began searching — looking for some evidence that might work in the young woman’s defense. After his search turned out to be fruitless, he collapsed on Whitney’s bed, but— as he did — he noticed the ceiling hole— the very same hole that Leo probably created to watch Whitney.
The hole had increased in size since we saw it— and that’s why Gray was able to catch it from a distance. Before asking for Sonia’s help in locating the attic, he climbed to the bed to analyze. As the pair headed up there, Gray told Sonia not to touch anything, and— having solid proof that Leo was here — the lawyer revealed that this might be what was needed to get Whitney off the hook. Is this discovery going to save Whitney?
Gray needs something that could prove that Leo was stalking Whitney — and that could be a lot of it. Will Whitney finally be released from jail?
