Following Mick’s (Danny Dyer) tragic disappearance, talk turns to investing in the Vic on EastEnders the following week, and Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) is presented with not one, but two offers she cannot refuse.
As viewers are aware, Mick drowned at sea over the holiday season while attempting to save Linda from the dangerous waves, unaware that she had already reached safety.
Although a body has not yet been found, it is thought that the landlord perished in the frigid water. His new wife Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks), whose nefarious schemes caused her husband’s fatal end, was later detained for the terror she instigated and is still in prison.
While dealing with the loss of her soulmate, Linda made the decision to sell the Vic. However, she ran into problems because she couldn’t do it without Mick’s approval and because they haven’t found his body, he can’t be officially ruled dead, leaving her in a precarious situation.
Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) and Patrick Trueman have helped the landlady resume her duties behind the bar (Rudolph Walker).
However, as Valentine’s Day approaches—the first since Mick’s tragic death—things become more challenging, and Linda finds it challenging to cope.
The matriarch finds the customarily romantic day to be as challenging as you might expect, but Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) shows her support by helping a grateful Linda organize a party in an effort to divert herself from a trauma of her own given that it’s also the anniversary of Dennis Rickman Jnr’s (Bleu Landau’s) passing.
But things only get worse for Linda as she learns from a lawyer after a particularly trying night that Janine wants to sell Mick’s share of the Vic!
She tells Sharon about it, distraught, and Sharon tries to help her come up with a plan, but they come to the conclusion that Linda might have to sell out.
But after giving it some more thought, Sharon comes up with the ideal answer. She offers Linda a deal she can’t refuse in an effort to aid her friend by purchasing Mick’s share of the Vic.
However, Eve Unwin (Heather Peace) overhears the conversation and further aggravates the situation by suggesting Suki Panesar (Balvinder Sopal) as a potential buyer in an effort to regain her ex-confidence. lover’s
