After 15 years on the ITV soap opera Coronation Street, actor Alex Bain is reportedly planning to leave Weatherfield.
According to rumors, Alex Bain will soon leave Coronation Street in a dramatic plot that will premiere next summer.
The soap opera star, who has spent the last fifteen years portraying Simon Barlow, reportedly made the decision to move away from the cobbles.
The “time is right to move on” has been asserted, despite the fact that the Corrie star was cast at the age of seven.
The Sun was informed by a source that Alex is sad to be leaving Coronation Street because the cast truly is like a family to him, but he understands that it is time to move on.
“He’s incredibly enthusiastic about the future and upcoming opportunities.”
Coronation Street has been contacted by Express.co.uk for a statement.
In 2008, the 22-year-old actor made his dramatic debut on the ITV soap opera as seven-year-old Simon Barlow, the son of Peter and Lucy, who had previously fought a deadly illness.
Alex has been at the center of dramatic storylines on the soap opera, including ones involving domestic abuse.
Away from the cobblestones, the young actor gained notoriety after it was revealed that he was a teenage father. Alex was seventeen when his ex-girlfriend Levi gave birth to their first child shortly after she turned sixteen.
After breaking the news of their breakup in April of this year, Alex proposed to his ex-girlfriend Mollie Lockwood last year. The young actor then deleted all references to her from his Instagram account.
“They’re gutted the relationship didn’t work out, but they’re both so young it’s hard to make such a big commitment early on in their lives,” a source told The Sun.
After they broke up, Alex briefly left the ITV soap opera but later came back.
