Priya Sharma of Emmerdale has gone through a lot in the last several months, and the future does not look promising for her.

Since she was caught in a perilous maze fire, Priya Sharma (played by Fiona Wade) has been going through a lot of difficulties. Despite the fact that she survived the fire, she was severely burned and has scars all over her back. Her eating disorder reared its ugly head over the holidays as a result of her insecurities. The Emmerdale character is expected to return to work next week as the New Year begins, but she may be out of a job after being given a shattering blow by her employer.

Priya from the ITV serial was distraught to learn that her eating issue was delaying the healing of her scars during the Christmas season.

In subsequent scenes, Priya’s brother Jai Sharma (Chris Bisson) will ask Leyla Cavanagh (Roxy Shahidi) if she can get Priya back to work at Take A Vow in the hopes of giving her a much-needed boost.

Priya is overjoyed and eager to get back to work when Jai tells her she can go back to work.

However, on her first day back, she begins to feel the pain from her burns.

When a powerful and disgruntled client bursts into the office, ostensibly on the warpath, she becomes even more worried.

Priya, on the other hand, is on the ball as she answers the angry customer’s questions, but her need to scratch her scars wins out.

She’s upset when she hears her client make fun of her scratching as she leaves the salon.

The snarky remarks have worried and exhausted Priya, who is still healing physically and mentally after the fire in October.

Was the ITV soap character’s return to work too soon?

Will she inform her boss that she’s still suffering from her recuperation and want another few weeks off before she’s ready to resume working with clients?

Fiona, who plays Priya, has complimented Emmerdale executives for revisiting her character’s eating condition, describing her relapse as “natural” in the aftermath of the horrific fire.

“Priya is someone who is so careful of how she looks, she spends all of her time being a perfectionist,” Fiona explained to Digital Spy. “She has cured the eating disorder, but it’s always there with her.”

“She has lost control of everything, and that’s where it all begins — control and perfectionism.”

“It’s understandable that the authors have brought it back because it helps her process what’s happened to her.”

Following a harrowing few months, it’s evident that Priya still has a long way to go before she fully recovers.

Priya’s brother wanted to help her by bringing her back to work, but his support could have serious ramifications for her.

If Priya’s confidence is further shattered by another disgruntled client, she may find it increasingly difficult to cope with job.

She could be fired if she isn’t honest with her boss about her problems and continues to have problems with clients.

Priya is already in a vulnerable state, so losing her work could send her into a tailspin.

Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7 pm on ITV, with an extra episode airing on Thursdays at 8 pm.
