‘Only me!’ Harold Bishop returns to Neighbours one last time before finale and our hearts are full

Before the series finale, Harold Bishop (Ian Smith) made one more appearance on Neighbours, and we swear we’re not sobbing.

The Australian serial drama’s final episode, which is scheduled to run on July 29 after 37 years on air, will feature a number of Erinsborough legends, as viewers are aware.

Legendary café owner Harold surprised Susan and Karl Kennedy (Jackie Woodburne and Alan Fletcher) on Wednesday’s (July 6) episode of the show by showing up on their doorstep without prior notice.

He exclaimed, “Only me!” while beaming, and we have to admit that our hearts couldn’t be more content.

In essence, Susan represented all of us as she put her arms around her old friend and gave him the largest hug, filled with emotion at his unexpected arrival.

Similar to Susan, Karl was surprised and requested that Harold stay at their house while he was in Ramsay Street.

However, Amy Greenwood (Jacinta Stapleton), Jane Harris (Annie Jones), and close buddy Toadie (Ryan Moloney) were also overjoyed to see Harold, so it wasn’t just Karl and Susan who were overjoyed by his return!

You’re crying, not you.

Harold is now back where he belongs and will continue to be a regular on the show until the big finale, and it doesn’t take him long to become involved in all the typical Ramsay Street turmoil!

He assists Mackenzie Hargreaves (Georgie Stone), who is coping in the wake of the tragic loss of her husband Hendrix Greyson (Ben Turland).

Harold empathises with Mackenzie’s suffering and confides in her about his own experience with bereavement. Mackenzie begins to feel strong for the first time in a long time as the advice he offers turns out to be helpful.

But Zara Zelwyn (Freya Van Dyke), another regular who complains about Toadie and Melanie Pearson’s (Lucinda Cohen) engagement and the unfairness of it all, is also in need of Harold’s counsel.

Harold doesn’t seem to be that excited about the development either, so her remarks must be having an impact.

It sounds like Harold’s final episode of Neighbours will be emotional, and we wouldn’t want it any other way, to be honest!

Thursday, July 7 at 1:45 and 6 p.m. on Channel 5, Neighbours continues.
