Veteran actor Lynne McGranger has disclosed how she plans to quit the soap opera, just days after Home and Away’s Georgie Parker announced her departure. For more than 30 years, the actor, 70, has portrayed Irene Roberts.

The redhead surpassed radio host Kate Ritchie in 2014 to become Australia’s longest-running actress in the same position. (Sally Fletcher). Despite the fact that her character serves as a loving mother figure to the people of Summer Bay, the actress is looking for a “dramatic exit”.

For her final storyline, Lynne floated a few original concepts in an interview with Stuff.co.nz.

She revealed, “I want to leave with the biggest bang and the most dramatic departure. “I want to be lost at sea, or I want to suffer a really long, sad death, with everyone crying and wail[ing] around me.

Or Irene might drown at sea, the body would never be found, there would be a memorial ceremony and everything, and then she would just walk back into town.
